Cheri Eatery. South Melbourne
Big summer Euro vibes at South Melbourne’s newest addition Cheri Eatery. This vibrant split-level venue is serving up gelato, pastries, pizza, and coffee. What more could you want?
Located on Coventry Street, just down from the South Melbourne Market, Cheri’s front entrance features two wide, step free doors, making access a breeze.
Inside, the space is split into two areas. The front section, with its gelato bar and open patisserie, feels more like a café. You’ll find both indoor seating options and tables out front to people watch. Towards the back, the area opens up to a larger round table. Seating options include standard height chairs with backrests and booth seating.
Beyond the pastries, the space transitions to a more restaurant style area, accessed via stairs or a lift for easy access. Upstairs, you’ll find booths and the standout feature - a gorgeous outdoor courtyard surrounded by lush greenery. With sturdy outdoor seating and plenty of space to navigate, it’s perfect for enjoying a pizza or coffee while soaking in the atmosphere. It almost feels like a slice of Italy.
The accessible toilet is located on the same level as the pastries, right by the lift. It’s well equipped with grab rails, a backrest, and plenty of space to maneuver.
While there isn’t an accessible parking spot directly outside, you’ll find a couple of options further along Coventry Street near the market and one on Cecil Street. It’s a very busy on market days so you may need to do a few laps to find a spot.
Cheri Eatery has done a fantastic job with accessibility, and I can already see it becoming a summer hotspot!
Bonus accessible entrance/exit on Hotham Street directly from the courtyard!
