Cafe + restaurant in a heritage-listed building

Weekdays: 7am-5pm

Weekends: 7:30am-5pm

Backing up my reviews with another accessible heritage-listed building, Higher Ground in the heart of the CBD.

On the corner of Little Bourke and Spencer Streets you won’t miss the ramp access that winds around to the entrance!

A popular spot, I went on the weekend and had to wait 25 mins for a table. A coffee cart out the front means you can grab a coffee while you wait. An impressive fit out inside with 15 metre ceilings and lots of exposed brick! The tables are spread out over different tiered levels. The ground floor is accessible as is the top floor via a lift - the mezzanine levels are only accessed via stairs. For this reason I’d recommend booking a table so you can guarantee a spot that works for you. The ground floor has lots of high tables and stools, however they do have some standard tables + chairs. I was able to get a standard table that had enough room beside it to transfer.

The toilets are past the open kitchen and they have both an accessible and ambulant toilet. The accessible toilet has a backrest and a baby change table.

A tricky spot for parking, I wasn’t able to find any accessible spots nearby. The Spencer Street outlet carpark is directly across the road. I managed to find street parking on Little Bourke.

Possibly the best piece of halloumi I’ve ever eaten! Made the wait so much sweeter.
