Moonhouse. Balaclava
Not your average weekend yum cha, this one is a bit extra. You’ll find Moonhouse on Carlisle Street Balaclava in a gorgeous art deco building - and yep it’s accessible!
The curved building entrance is step free and really wide making it easy to enter.
The Chinese inspired diner is moody and a bit luxe. There’s a mix of seating inside, some more suitable than others. The tables along the window side are quite close together - I would’ve struggled to sit here. The larger round tables and tables to the right have more room around them. This one is definitely a place I’d make a note when booking if you require certain access - I did and was allocated a round table at the front which was easier to get to. All tables are standard height, chairs have backrests and there’s bench seating along the window side. There’s a couple of stools if you want to sit at the bar.
The accessible toilet is right down the back of the restaurant. The pathway to get there is a little narrow but a couple of people moved their chairs for me. The toilet is large but doesn’t have a backrest.
One accessible parking spot sits directly opposite on Carlisle Street. The Coles carpark is on the side street and has accessible spots too.
Yum cha is only on the weekend and you bet it’s unlimited! Already pencilling in to go back and try the a la carte menu. The food here is incredible!
