Ripponlea Food & Wine. Ripponlea
Whether it’s date night, afternoon grazing, or a special dinner Ripponlea Food & Wine has you covered! And they’re accessible.
Alternative side door entry that’s step free on Glen Eira Road as there’s a step at the front door. Just ask the staff to open it when you arrive and when leaving.
Inside has all the charm of a European bistro; lots of green velvet and white tablecloths. It is a little narrow between tables but I went when they opened at 3 and didn’t need to move past other diners. I could choose where worked best for me to sit - green velvet booths on one side of the restaurant or standard tables + chairs on the other side. I chose the standard tables as there was more room to transfer off my scooter. I’d make a note when booking if you require wheelchair access. There’s a little parklet area out the front with one of those plastic ramps to access the tables if you prefer to sit outside.
The accessible toilet is down the back of the restaurant. It’s big, with suitable grab rails but no backrest.
Located directly opposite Ripponlea train station, there’s 2 accessible spots right out the front on Glen Eira Avenue. Couldn’t get much closer. Street parking available too.
Sometimes places with the best food aren’t accessible, so glad that’s not the case here. Everything I ate was incredible - highlight for me was the calamari + the lobster spaghetti. Staff were lovely too. Already planning my next visit.
