I promised you an accessible rooftop bar and Transit Rooftop Bar is a winner! With some of the very best views in Melbourne, live music and cocktails, this spot is a must visit in Summer.
Located at Federation Square on level 2 of Transport Hotel, the entrance is completely flat and wide. The lift to take you up to level 2 is immediately to your left of the entrance.
You’re met by a cabaret style interior with lots of leather couches. The hero here is the large outdoor terrace with impressive views of the city skyline overlooking the Yarra. There’s a mix of standard tables + chairs or high tables + stools to take in the views. The lower tables still get a great view. Inside has enough space to navigate through the venue and the transition outside is completely flat. The outdoor terrace is a little tight when busy, but people were super helpful to move a few chairs to clear my path when leaving.
The accessible toilet is back near the lift down a narrow corridor. The toilet has a siding door which I like, but no backrest on the toilet. It’s big enough with suitable grab rails.
Parking is available in the carpark next to St Paul’s Cathedral, entry is via Flinders Street. There’s a carpark at Fed Square, entry is via Russell Street. There is one accessible spot on Flinders Street. Street parking on Russell Street is nice and close too.
What’s more Melbourne than a city rooftop bar? I’ll be going back for the views and ease of access.
